Habitat | Most commonly found in quiet waters with abundant vegetation, often found along with water boatmen. Other habitats include sewage lagoons, spring-fed pools, roadside ditches, stagnant pools, thermal streams and brackish waters. |
Feeding Information | Use front and middle pairs of legs as strong spines to hold down prey, while using beak to kill prey and suck out body fluids. Feed on a variety of invertebrates, including insects, crustaceans and snails. May feed on fish fry and tadpoles. |
