Habitat |
Hellgrammites are usually found in all sizes of running waters and usually in the fastest current. Found in little sheltered areas underneath boulders, cobbles or large wood debris. |
Feeding Information |
Search for prey, particularly in the night. Feed on any small invertebrate except for the larvae of mayflies, blackflies and net-spinning caddisflies. |
Water Quality Tolerance |
Mostly facultative, but some are very tolerant to pollution. Larvae are usually found in moderately clean well-oxygenated water and are sensitive to pollution. |
