Habitat
Found on rotting wood, bark, rock or humus soil in either full sun or partial shade. Distributed throughout most of the Eastern United States and Canada.
Environmental Monitoring
It is generally a pollution sensitive species. It is sensitive to sulphur and nitrous oxides and fertilizing nitrogen. However some literature have shown it to be pollution tolerant.
